Sports Massage FAQs

Sports massage is hands on treatment to improve blood flow, flexibility and recovery time. Athletes have used this for many years to improve their wellbeing and ability to train.

It depends on the pressure of the sports massage, light pressure with high speed can be a great addition to warm ups but deep pressure for long duration will require a longer time to recovery. Similar to the delayed onset muscles soreness effect. The intensity of training/massage will dictate the amount of needed recovery time.

For those who are pregnant a specialist in pregnancy massage is best as they understand the biological changes which affect the body whilst pregnant. Taking care of the baby is priority number one and as both massage and pregnancy has an effect on blood flow, the amount of fluid in the body and the flexibility of the body a trained specialist would be recommended.

Pain is subjective we all experience pain differently. Different people can tolerate massage at different intensities. Speak to your clinician regarding the pressure you would desire and they will facilitate your needs.

Sports massage improves recovery time which means the individual can increase their training and therefore improve their performance through faster recovery times and being able to train at a more intense rate.

Sport massage works best in combination with physiotherapy and other therapies due to the reduction of pain, increased flexibility and the relaxation of the targeted area. Once this is achieved through massage new exercises can be unlocked to progress physiotherapy treatment resulting in overall better rehabilitation.

Sport massage reduces pain by improving blood circulation and secretion of endorphins in the body, these hormones also induce relaxation thereby reducing stress. Simply by taking the time for yourself knowing that you are working towards your own wellbeing will reduce your stress. This also provides a 60-minute slot where you have access to ask questions regarding your health and be given appropriate advice.

60 minutes session or 30 minutes session

How much is a sports massage?

£60 for 60 minutes session

£35 FOR 30 minutes session

It all depends on your needs. The more frequent the treatment the better the results.

Drink plenty water and relax, arrive with a positive mind-set knowing you’re looking after yourself.

Sports massage has been used to reduce back pain for many years, and when used in combination with physiotherapy is one of the most effective treatments out there.

It improves blood flows, flexibility, induces relaxation and speed of recovery. Allowing you to move more freely reengage with your work, sport and daily life therefore improving your overall wellness.

Casual dress and loose-fitting clothing, the more access to the site of injury the better so for example shorts for tight quads, but dignity and privacy is always the first priority. So, whatever you are comfortable in.

Deep tissue is simply the depth applied to the tissue during massage. Sports massage depths vary depending on the needs of the individual, there may be some spots that the therapist goes into more deep tissue techniques but over all this should be discussed with your clinician.
