Women’s Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Regain confidence and comfort with specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapy designed to support, empower and understand women at every stage of life.

What is Pelvic Health Physiotherapy?

Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialist area of physiotherapy focused on the muscles, joints and connective tissues of the pelvis and abdomen. It addresses how these structures function — and how they contribute to symptoms such as bladder or bowel leakage, pelvic pain, prolapse, and discomfort during pregnancy or after childbirth.

Through thorough assessment, education and tailored treatment, pelvic health physiotherapy aims to restore strength, movement and confidence — helping women feel better in their daily lives.

Pelvic health conditions are far more common than many women realise, and far more treatable than many expect — even if symptoms have been present for a long time.

What can Pelvic Health Physiotherapy help with?

Pelvic Health symptoms can significantly affect our quality of life, and may affect us at any age or any season of life- whether pre/post pregnancy, as an athlete or at a mature age. This service is ideal for women experiencing:

Bladder symptoms (Stress Incontinence, Urinary Urgency, Urge Incontinence, Leaking), Bowel symptoms, Pelvic organ prolapse, Post-partum recovery, Diastasis Recti, Pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain, Post-caesarean care, Safe return to exercise postpartum, Pelvic girdle pain, Pain during intimacy and Post-abdominal surgery.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

We use a comprehensive, evidence-based approach throughout your care.

Initial assessment (approx. 60 minutes) Your first appointment begins with an in-depth conversation about your history, symptoms and goals — at your own pace. Your physiotherapist will then carry out a thorough physical assessment, which may include evaluation of muscle strength, coordination, posture, movement and pelvic floor function.

Findings and treatment planning Your physiotherapist will explain what she has found, answer your questions, and create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your symptoms and preferences.

Treatment Treatment is tailored to you and may include pelvic floor muscle training, strength and breathing exercises, manual therapy, acupuncture, movement advice and a home exercise programme.

Follow-up and progression Follow-up appointments monitor your progress, adjust your programme as you improve, and support you in integrating changes into everyday life.
